Marcella “Sally” Smith, 81, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014.

She was born October 14, 1932 in Delia, KS, the daughter of Ira A. and Floy E. (Murrow) Wood. She was a graduate of Delia High School.

Marcella was employed and retired from Fleming Food Company.

She was a member of Northland Christian Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Capital City Aeries No. 4319, where she was KEOTY 1999-2000, and Rebekah Lodge No. 616, Topeka. She was a former member of Order of the Easter Star.

Sally married J. Stanley Smith on September 4, 1953 in Huntsville, AR. He survives. Other survivors include four children, Rick (Gale) Smith, Topeka, Ray (Pam) Smith, Orlando, FL, Ron (Sally) Smith, Eskridge, KS and Lisa Hoffman, Topeka; nine grandchildren, Ian (Stacy) Smith, Aimee Smith, Jennifer Gogian, Joey (Stacy) Smith, Jessica Oliver, Justin Smith, Edwyne Smith, DeAnna Smith and Chelsea Hoffman; nine great-grandchildren, Adrian and Alana Lopez, Gwendolyn Gogian, Anna Smith, Garrett, Addison and Cody Oliver, Benjamin Vail, Shayson Schneider; three siblings, Harriet “Terry” Perry, Topeka, Viola “Vicky” Foster, Olathe, KS, Eva Stout, Spring Hill, FL; and a sister-in-law, Betty Wood, Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings, Steve Wood, Garnet Lutz, Marjorie DeBacker, Wayne Wood and an infant sibling Merle Wood.

A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Sally will lie in state after 3 p.m., Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
