James “Jim” Trimble, 60, of Wakarusa, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023.
He was born May 28, 1963, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of James and Marie (Harms) Trimble. He was the delight of his three older siblings in the home!
His early years of education were in Topeka 501; they moved to the Seaman District when he was in Jr. high and he graduated from Seaman High School in 1982. He attended Washburn University studying in the field of criminal justice.
Jim loved being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time on his farm whether it was on the tractor or out with the quarter horses. The horses became his hobby in the 1990’s and he loved to explain breeding/bloodlines etc to anyone who would listen. His farm provided a multitude of hay bales to feed all the eaters. He was always busy with mechanic work, restoring vehicles and completing woodworking projects. He loved all his animals which included many cats and dogs over the years.
Jim dedicated his working years in his community as a police officer serving as a patrol officer, a motorcycle officer, a detective and at the end of his career as a Sergeant for the Topeka Police Department. His entire service spanned from 1987 to 2013. After retirement from TPD, Jim was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas as a security officer.
Survivors include his siblings, Sandra Marie Eaton and Lloyd (Cathy) Trimble and many nieces, and nephews and grand ones as well and his sister in law, Brenda Trimble.He was preceded in death by his father, James G Trimble Jr., his mother, Marie Trimble, his brother, Darrell Trimble, nephew Jeremy Lloyd Trimble and brother-in-law Dennis Eaton
Cremation is planned. A Celebration of his Life will be on December 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Parker-Price 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, Kansas. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Shelter of Topeka.
