Robert Ralph Barnes, 83, of Topeka, passed away on August 20, 2023 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

Robert was born on April 6, 1940 to Leon and Edna (England) Barnes in Topeka, Kansas.

Robert attended Topeka High School. He joined the United States Army and courageously served from 1957-1960 before he was honorably discharged. Robert was an entrepreneur his entire life. He also was an over the road truck driver for many years. He finished his career as owner and operator of the Dam Store in Perry, Kansas.

On August 12, 1961, Robert married Karen Chenoweth and together they started their family.

Robert loved to be outdoors and spend time fishing. He was incredibly involved in stock car racing and fixing up cars. When he was not playing Mr. Fix It, he was spoiling his grandchildren and being a family man. He loved spending time with his family and friends and being quite the jokester that everyone knew him to be. Robert was a social butterfly and will always be remembered for his kind nature and the most generous heart.

Robert is survived by his loving daughters, Jenni Kahle and Jeanette (Clinton) Allington; siblings, Wilma Knopf, Larry Barnes, Naomi McCumiskey, June Barnes and Tony Barnes; grandchildren, Lindsey (Martin) Garcia, Chase (Corinne) Kahle, and Hali (Wesley) Blank; great grandchildren, Sophia Garcia, Griffin Blank, and Leon Thomas Kahle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; both of his parents; siblings, Phyllis Sterling and Marjorie Pettit
