Cynthia "Cindy" Ketter, 66, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023.

She was born March 16, 1957, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Fredrick and De Ella (Gee) Johnson. She attended Topeka High School. Later in life, Cindy went to Washburn University and graduated with a Bachelors in Social Work.

Cindy “CJ” was a Corrections officer at YCAT for over twenty years. After obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree, she worked for the State of Kansas Department for Family and Children as a Social Worker.

Her pride and joy were her family, children, grandchildren and her dogs. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and was known as the “Mod Podge Queen” and loved everything sparkly, watching hummingbirds and enjoyed true crime shows. Her family also called her the “Casserole Queen”. She loved hosting family dinners or parties, but especially get togethers for the 4th of July and Halloween. Cindy’s door was always open to everyone. She was a very intellectual woman.

Cynthia "Cindy" married Allen John Ketter on October 24, 1998 in Topeka, Kansas.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Allen John Ketter; her children, Shannon (Michael) O' Connor, Jennifer Rhoads, Ryan Pendleton and Dustin (Jennifer) Rhoads; grandchildren, Jamie Crouse, Taylor Crouse, Kamryn Pendleton, Deven George, Lexi Lupton, Aiden Pendleton and Ashton O’Connor; great grandchildren, Mason Crouse, Samantha Crouse and Bentley Holt; and two brothers, Michael (Lori) Johnson and Patrick (Mary) Johnson and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Parker Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66608. A graveside service will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society 5720 SW 21st, Topeka, KS 66604.
