Robert Gene Hinchsliff, 95, of Berryton, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023.

He was born December 31, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Chester and Carolyn (Graft) Hinchsliff. He was a Topeka High School Graduate, class of 1947. Following high school, Robert joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on December 24, 1952.

Robert married Barbara D. Eyth on February 14, 1953 at the Topeka Euclid Methodist Church. They welcomed four children, Thomas, Donald, Sharron and Ben.

He was a self-employed Custom Combiner for 23 years. He worked in construction for 34 years and retired from Lundgren Construction in 1990.

He was a lifetime member of the Labor's Union and the Capital City Rabit Club. He belonged to the American Rabbit Breeders Association and the American Checkered Giant Rabbit Club. He was also a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church of Topeka.

He loved his family and was a good friend to many. He enjoyed small farm life and living on his family's homestead in Berryton. He loved caring for animals, breeding and showing rabbits, and attending SWAP meets.

He is survived by his children, Thomas (Lori) Hinchsliff, Donald (Stacie) Hinchsliff, Sharron (James) Coon and Ben Hinchsliff; seven grandchildren, Marci Burns, Andrew Hinchsliff, Jake Hinchsliff, Rayna Hinchsliff, Niki Gillespie, Amanda George, Austin Coon; seven great-grandchildren, Charleigh Coon, Skyler Farrar, Peri Farrar, Kinsley Farrar, Laynie Farrar, Eli Gillespie and Gene Gillespie and one brother, Richard Hinchsliff. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hinchsliff; daughter-in-law, Milly Hinchsliff and grandson, Robert Hinchsliff.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Parker Price Funeral Home. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. Robert will be laid to rest at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Presbyterian Church, 2810 NE Thomas Ave., Topeka, KS 66616.
