Sharon "Kay" Scheibe
1948 - 2023

Sharon "Kay" Scheibe, 74, of Topeka, passed away on January 21, 2023 at Stormont Vail Hospital.

She was born on June 24, 1948 to Jerome and Juanita (Bohnsack) Brown in Topeka, KS.

Kay graduated from Topeka High School in 1966. At a very young age Kay started working for the Grand Theatre and an usher and in the box office. After graduation from high school, she married Rick Paul Scheibe in Topeka on April 29, 1967. Shortly after marriage, Rick went and served in the Vietnam War. While there, Rick was injured in an explosion where he lost his arm and eye. From that point forward Kay was his main caregiver. After, they started to grow their family. Kay was a homemaker for a short time then attended and graduated from beautician school at Gene Blake School of Hairstyling. Rick and his friends started constructing her own beauty shop in their home. She retired being a beautician after 20 years. After retiring, she worked as a ticket seller for the Kansas Expo Center for several years.

Kay enjoyed making trips up North to the casino and shopping. She loved to be with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Kay also enjoyed spending time with all of her friends going to concerts, out to dinner, and traveling.

Kay is survived by her children, Tammy Scheibe and Scott (Jenny) Scheibe; sister, Judy (Lanny) Brown; sister in law, Shirley Brown; grandchildren, Matt (Amanda) Rice, Justin (Jamie) Rice, Heather Rice, Justus (Bailey) Sharples, Lexi Sharples, and Caden Lutz; and great grandchildren, Bennett Rice and Henry Rice.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rick; both of her parents; and her brother, Jerry Brown.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Parker-Price Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. Per Kay's wishes, cremation will take place and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memorial Park Cemetery.
