Melba Mae Goodwin, 88, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening at her home, surrounded by her loving family members.

She was born in Lyndon, Kansas on May 29, 1934, the daughter of Alfa Alma Nicolay and Olive Gertrude (Markley) Nicolay.
Melba was a charter member of Lighthouse Bible Church in Topeka. She was a loving servant of God and boldly shared her love for Jesus by witnessing to family, friends, and strangers.

Melba lived most of her life in Topeka. She was a home maker and spent 19 years hanging wallpaper in the Topeka area. Melba married Richard Goodwin on November 28, 1949 at the age of 15. They were married just short of 60 years when he passed away on January 19, 2009.

She is survived by her daughters, Jan (Rob) Miller of Yukon, Oklahoma, Lisa (Charlie) Workman of Topeka, Kansas, and Brenda Swift of Topeka, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Spinelli, and many nieces and nephews.

Melba is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; 9 siblings; and both of her parents.

Visitation where the family will greet friends will be on Sunday, September 18 at Parker Price Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be on Monday, September 19, at Lighthouse Bible Church, 4110 NW 62nd Street in Topeka at 10:00 am. Graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery in Lyndon, Kansas.
