Dale C. Gatrost, 88, of Topeka, passed away on September 3, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor.

He was born on September 5, 1933 to Clifford and Grace Gatrost (Brown) in Rural Eskridge, KS.

Dale graduated from Eskridge High School. After graduation he married Janice Phillips on February 18, 1953. Dale joined the United State Air Force and fought in the Korean Conflict. He served for four years and was honorably discharged. After Dale's military career, he started working for DuPont as a mechanic. He worked his way up and retired as a contracting supervisor. He continued to work part time for Flexel, until he retired at age 83.

He enjoyed wood working, specifically making home decor and furniture. Dale loved to be outside and tend to his garden. He grew an assortment of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Dale enjoyed sharing all that he grew with friends and family. Dale was very active in researching aviation history, WWII history, and Korean Conflict history. Dale was a proud grandpa and enjoyed spending time with them when he could. He will be missed by all of his family.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, Janice; children, Judy (Jim) Boyd, Pamela Gatrost, and Karen (Timothy) Dindios; sister, Carol Kraus; Grandchildren, Jason Boyd, Jennifer (Bruce) Lewis, Ryan Dindios, Kyle Dindios; great grandchildren, Isabelle Lewis and Everette Lewis.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; and siblings, Anita Butner and Barbara Skinner.

Per Dale's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care in Dale's name.
