She was born February 26, 1934 in Eskridge, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard Blankenship and Daisy (Henderson) Blankenship. She was a 1952 graduate of Topeka High School.

On November 10, 1954, Lois and Donald Eugene Peterson were united in marriage enjoying more than 67 years together.

Lois was an insurance biller at Stormont Vail Hospital for 40 years until her retirement in 1999. Lois was an extremely giving person and volunteered with an elderly woman who enjoyed Lois’ baking treats and time spent visiting with her. Lois also volunteered at Elmont Elementary, reading and assisting students with their reading skills. She also volunteered at a local bookstore.

Lois had a deep belief in God and prayed often for her family. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and hosting many fish fries, card parties, dancing, reading, puzzles, garage sales, Royals, grandkids’ sports, and traveling with friends and family. Lois loved her family first and foremost and endlessly gave of her time, money and love to help those in need. Lois was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly and they loved her. She will be greatly missed.
