Vada Hope McRoberts
1933 - 2022

Vada Hope McRoberts, 89, of Silver Lake, passed away on June 30, 2022 at Rossville Health Care & Rehabilitation.

She was born on April 15, 1933 to Lyndon and Hazel (Cargile) George in Topeka, Kansas.

Vada graduated from Silver Lake High School on a Sunday and went straight into the work force that next day for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She worked in the accounting department and retired after 42 years, rarely missing a day of work. She was a career woman who would of still been working to this day. After retirement she worked as an Arbitrator for the State of Kansas where she received Arbitrator of the Year.

On November 1, 1952, married Gene McRoberts in Topeka, Kansas. Together they had one daughter.

Vada was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church. She attended bible studies and was a Red Hat Society Member and Women of the Eastern Star. She also was apart of the Grove Sportsman's Club. Vada was an avid supporter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events, school activities, and daily life. She would pick them up from school and be with them during the afternoon. Every grandchild had a "special day" that they would spend with her, choosing whatever they would like to do. This eventually moved down to all of her great grandchildren. She would never say "no" to anyone. Vada was known for helping anyone and everyone she could. She was community driven and was proud to share her cooking with everyone.

Vada is survived by her daughter, Jeanette (Keith) Catron; siblings, Lester (Norma) George and K (Gary) French; sister-in-law, Clara George; grandchildren, Dustin (Angela) Dick, Melissa (Courtney) Horgan, and Derek (Kimberlee) Dick; step grandchild, Erin (Trent) Kraus; great grandchild, Aubrey Dick, Madison Horgan, Brooklyn Horgan, Rylee Dick, Cael Horgan, Cason Kraus, Dalen Dick, Taylee Kraus, Logan Dick, Karsyn Dick, and Camden Kraus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; both of her parents; siblings, Joy George, Grace Linville, Donald George, and Jonny George.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Silver Lake United Methodist Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Grove, Kansas.
