Lanny Dean Bailey, 79, of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022.

He was born January 22, 1943, north of Silver Lake, Kansas, the son of Emerson and Edna (Dean) Bailey. He graduated from Silver Lake High School.

Lanny was a farmer through and through. He farmed his whole life, both cattle and crop. His farm was just north of Silver Lake, Kansas.

Lanny enjoyed his morning coffee in Rossville with his friends. He liked to hunt and fish in his younger years. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

He married Phyllis Johnson in 1965, they later divorced but continued to share a special bond. To their union were their three children, Scott, Kelly and Matt.

Survivors include his children, Scott Bailey, Kelly Brier, and Matt (Amy) Bailey; grandchildren, Nicholas (Rokaia) Brier, Bailey Brier, Carson Brier, Emma Bailey, and Blake Bailey; brother, Gary (Linda) Bailey and brother-in-law, John Swan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Swan.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608.

A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Walnut Hill Cemetery: north of Silver Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
