Susan Leigh Salyer, 65, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022.

She was born September 24, 1956, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Dale and Norma (Jacobs) Johnston.

She graduated from Topeka High School in 1974.

Susan was recently retired from the Kansas Bankers Association after 11 years, where she was the Vice President of Employee Benefits. Prior to that, she worked at Potwin Presbyterian Church as the Office Administrator and later for the TDC Learning Centers as an Administrative Assistant.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Topeka.

Susan married Rick A. Salyer on August 28, 1976 at Westside Christian church in Topeka. They celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary in 2021. Together, they have three children Tracy, Thomas, and Trisha whom she loved so dearly.

Throughout the years, Susan was very involved in her children’s activities including PTO meetings, Girl Scouts, and sporting events. She loved to bake and was known for her delicious pies with the perfect flaky crust. She always enjoyed crafting and crocheting. More recently, she became an avid quilter and gifted many of the quilts to friends and family. Her life always revolved around her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in passing by her mother, Norma Johnston; Mother-In-Law, Helen Jean Geiss; Stepmother-in-law, Sharon Salyer; Father-In-law, Don Salyer.

Susan is survived by her father, Dale Johnston; her loving husband, Rick A. Salyer; Daughter, Tracy (John Braunsdorf) Salyer, Son, Thomas Salyer, Daughter, Trisha (Jayden) Wodke; Sisters, Linda (Dan) Woodland, Kim Brown, Tami Brooks; Brother, Mike (Rayla) Johnston, Grandchildren, Paxton and Spencer Salyer, Bennett and Bodie Wodke, and Charlotte Braunsdorf; Sister-In-Law, Kim (Ron) Anderson; Brother-In-Laws, David (Delpha Packer) Salyer, Marc (Sandy, Deceased) Steiner, and many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 5:00pm-7pm at Parker-Price Funeral Home Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00am, Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Parker Price Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka.
