Nancy Jo Mathy, 86, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022.

She was born December 22, 1935 in Parsons, KS. The daughter of William “Dale” Dickerson and Marjorie Streeter Dickerson. Nancy moved to Topeka KS in 1951 and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1954. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone for 26 years, retiring in 1992.

She is a member of Sunflower Telephone Pioneers and attended Capital City Church inTopeka.

Nancy married Harold Woodard in 1956 and later divorced in 1970. She then married James Mathy on September 7, 1982 and he proceeded her in death on May 20, 2015. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Donna Jean Dickerson and Karyl Sue Strathe and a brother, William “Bill” Dickerson, along with her parents and also a step-daughter, Sonia Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Woodard, and his wife, Sylvia and Randy Woodard and his wife, Sharon Boger, all from Topeka; four grandsons, Jason Woodard (Sarah), Joshua Woodard (Katie), Brandon Woodard, all of K.C. and Taylor Woodard (Elise) of Topeka; great-grandsons, Lincoln Woodard, Gunnar Woodard, Cameron Scheib, Joey Croy, Graham Woodard; and great-granddaughter, Lily Woodard and a great-grandchild expected; her brother, Gary Dickerson (Mary Lou) and sister-in-law, Joyce Dickerson; stepsons, Mitch Mathy (Brenda) of K.C. and Brett Mathy from Home, KS; step-granddaughters, Stephanie Cullimore, Melissa Ford, Gabrielle Kurosaki, Britt Olsen, Megan Woods, Kellam Haffner, McKenna Smith; and step-grandson, Brian Mathy; five step-great-grandsons, and five step-great granddaughters. Nancy leaves many nieces and nephews.

Nancy enjoyed spending time with family, working in her yard and flower garden. In her earlier years, she enjoyed camping with her husband.

A funeral ceremony will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 N.W. Independence Avenue, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka.
