In Memory Of
Carolyn Rose Chiddix
1938 - 2022
She was born on February 9, 1938 to Oliver and Helen (Coker) Beurman in Shawnee, KS.
Carolyn married Melvin Chiddix Sr. on September 6, 1954 in Topeka at St. John's Lutheran Church. Together they had 5 children.
Carolyn had many jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was working as a cashier for Tilton's Grocery for 8 years. She lived in Oakland most of her life and worked right up until she was 80 years young. Carolyn loved to play cards with her grandchildren and spoiling them to no end. Carolyn was very ornery and some would say she did not have a filter.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Beverly Sligar, Kathy (Mike) Lawless, Karen (Chris) Hutton, Melvin (Deanna) Chiddix, Jr., and Larry Chiddix; Grandchildren, Anthony Sligar, Ben (Lynn) Sligar, James (Kristin) Sligar, Laura (Jason) Buessing, Joseph (Susie) Hutton, Amanda (Andy) Harris, Jeffrey Chiddix, Matthew Chiddix, and Michelle (Richard) Bechtel; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Chiddix, Sr.; both of her parents; brothers, Richard Beurman, Elmer Beurman, and Bill Beaurman.
Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, January 28, 2022 starting at 1:30 pm at the Parker Price Reception Center. Family will greet friends to follow until 4:00 pm.
Memorial contributions can be made to Midland Hospice Care or to Grace Point Church.
