Eugene J. Bauer, 88, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his home.

He was born February 22, 1933, in Delia, Kansas, the son of Oliver and Alice (Vaughn) Bauer.

Eugene worked in construction for 52 years. He was employed with, MW Watson Construction, Dahlstrom Construction, Frisbie Construction, and Lee /Buetel Construction, before retiring with JE Dunn Construction.

Eugene married Shirley J. Bauer on September 1, 1967 in Topeka.

Eugene enjoyed coon hunting and gardening. He was well known for his prize winning tomatoes, and loved to give them away to everyone. He was an avid KSU fan, and was a great supporter of his grandchildren in all of their activities. He was the biggest family man, through and through.

Survivors include his loving wife; children, Cathy Clark, Chuck (Linda) Gunter, Jackie (Sam) Dowling, Earl Gunter; his twin Sister, Regina Shook; Daughter In Law, Nancy Gunter; Nephew, Joe (Cathy) O'Connor; and Great Nephew, David (Sandra) Abel; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; Sisters, Marie Bauer, Catherine Bauer, Herma Hoffman, Sophie Bauer; Brothers, Orville Bauer, Harold Bauer, Hershel Bauer, Peter Bauer, Junie Bauer, and Bobby Bauer; Great Granddaughters, Kylynn Gunter and Kelley Renee Franz.

Per Eugene’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Visitation will take place one hour before services, starting at 10:00 am.
A memorial Ceremony will follow starting at 11:00 am., Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 N.W. Independence Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
