Mary Ashby, 81, of Grantville, Kansas, passed away on December 8, 2020 at a local nursing home.
Mary was born on September 6, 1939 to Allen and Margaret (Kisinger) Williams at Topeka, KS.
Mary worked as a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service in Grantville, Kansas, where she retired.
On June 8 1958, Mary married John Ashby in Topeka at Central Avenue Christian Church. Together they had two children.
Mary was a member of Northland Christian Church, NARFE, and the United Methodist Women's Group at Grantville United Methodist Church.
She loved Kansas State University, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a great cook. She was known for her pizza, homemade pickles, and was the best gravy maker out there. She was a seamstress in her younger years and enjoyed making her daughters’ clothing.
Mary is survived by her loving Husband, John; Daughters, Tamara Ashby and Stacy (Darren) Schrock; Granddaughters, Madison Schrock and Sydney Schrock; brother, David Williams; and sister, Jean (Nick) Ricketts.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; and one sister, Dixie Radford.
Mary will lie in state at Parker-Price Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from noon until 5:00 p.m.
Private graveside service will be at Grantville Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Grantville United Methodist Church, Interim Hospice Care, or to the Topeka Rescue Mission.
