William Robert "Bill" Van Dorn, 68, of Overbrook, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020.

He was born December 27, 1951, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Richard Van Dorn and Lori Ledger.
Bill was employed with Hamm Construction for over 20 years, later working for Sunflower Paving.

He was a volunteer firefighter with Osage County Fire District #4. He was active with Boy Scouts of America until 2011. Bill always enjoyed being Santa during the holidays and the time he spent on his farm. He loved his family and working with them on puzzles and activity books.

He married Mary A. (Powell) Van Dorn on March 3, 1973 in Emporia, Kansas. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Barb Van Dorn, and one sister, Penny.

Survivors include two sons, William R.(Stephanie) Van Dorn, II, and Joseph (Mary) Van Dorn; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Adriana Van Dorn; and several siblings.

William’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Osage Nursing Center for the incredible loving care they provided him during his time there.

Memorial services will be 10am, Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to Osage County Fire District #4, 403 Maple St, Overbrook, KS 66524.
