In Memory Of
Ruth Elaine McDonald
1930 - 2020

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our Mother, Ruth Elaine (Rinehart) McDonald. She died on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the age of 90 at Plaza West Regional Healthcare.

She was born August 31, 1930, in Bigelow, Kansas the daughter of John William, Jr. and Faye Winifred (Shearer) Rinehart. She attended school in Marshall County.

Ruth married Ray S. McDonald, and they made their home in Topeka. They enjoyed 48 years together until his death in December 1996.

She was a stay-at-home Mother to five children, although many neighborhood children would also claim her as their second Mom. She was devoted in making sure her family’s need were met and would also be there to help a friend in need. She enjoyed being a Room Mother for all her children, was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of T.O.P.S. #427 for over 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, sister Elizabeth Winifred Rinehart; brothers William Randall and Harold John Rinehart; daughters-in-law LuAnn, Peggy Sue and Carmen Leah.

Survivors include her daughter Diane Elaine (Geary) Slover, four sons Robert Allen, Gary Ray (Marsha), Clinton John (Doti) all of Topeka and Stephen Dale, Silver Lake; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Julia Brower, Frankfort, Joyce Smith, and sister-in-law, Rosabelle Dew, Topeka; numerous nieces and nephews; all of whom loved her dearly.

Due to covid-19, services for immediate family will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Rochester Cemetery. Mrs. McDonald will lie instate after 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2020 at Parker-Price Funeral Home.
