David Randall Wright, 54, of Alma, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020.

He was born August 26, 1965 in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of Claude LeRoy and Wanda Marie (Enzor) Wright, Jr. He was a graduate of Topeka Christian Acadamy in Topeka and attended Kansas State University.

David owned and operated the Gambino’s Pizza Restaurant in Alma since 1992.

He was baptized in the Rolling Hills Christian Church in Topeka by his father, Claude Wright. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Alma, the Wabaunsee County Historical Society, the Sons of the American Legion in Alma and the Alma Chamber of Commerce.

David married Linda Linder. They later divorced. He married Karen Ringel on November 3, 2001 in Alma. They later divorced. Survivors include six children, Valerie Wright of Alma, Joshua Wright of McFarland, KS, Monica (Tyler) Dutton, Paxico, Annalesa Wright of Alma, Izabella Wright of Alma and Sadie Wright of Alma; ten grandchildren, Shelby, Bailey, Emily, Jettson, Kathran, Kylee, Mavis, Lily, Spencer and Leland; his mother, Wanda Wright of Topeka; four sisters, Wendy (Adam) Hoffman, Karen (Frank) Seel, Marcia (Randy) James, all of Topeka, Dr. Claudia (John) Bode of Lawrence; three brothers, Dr. Richard (Marta) Wright of Manhattan, KS, Ronald (Denise) Wright of Wichita and Jonathan Wright of Topeka; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude L. Wright, Jr. in 2001.

David enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, cooking and was a Christian. He was an avid hockey fan and Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Through all of David’s challenges, he impacted the lives of his children and grandchildren in a positive way. In his own words “I’ve learned from all of this how to live life and give God all the glory for the miracle He has shown me through my lung transplant.” He was blessed with three years following a double lung transplant.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 21113 Bison Road, Paxico, KS. Interment will follow at McFarland Cemetery, McFarland, Kansas. The family will receive friends following the interment. Parker Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions are assisting the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the David Wright Education Fund or Rolling Hills Christian Church or to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
