She was born on November 4, 1925, in Ozawkie, KS, the daughter of Shelby and Veneta (Schuster) Cook. She graduated from Highland Park High School, the class of 1943.
On June 8, 1946, Doris married her high school sweetheart, Carl A. Johnson.
Doris was a member of the Seaman Congregational Church and participated in Professional Round Dancing groups. After Carl retired, the two spent many wonderful years traveling the country teaching international ballroom dancing.
Doris is survived by her son-in-law, Walter Willett; daughter-in-law, Brenda Jo Johnson; six grandchildren, Jason Willett, Justin (Emily) Willett, Joshua Willett, Billy Johnson, Pete Williams, Michelle (Brian) Duncan; six great-grandchildren, Christopher & Dylan Duncan, Jaiana & Zachary Johnson, and Olivia Rose & Sydney Victoria Willett. Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl A. Johnson; son, Duane Lee Johnson; daughter, Vickie Willett; and brother, LaVerne Cook.
Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Monday, October 28, 2019 at Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. A visitation will take place the same day, one hour prior to services.
Internment will take place after the funeral service at Rochester Cemetery.
