Isabel Elizabeth Cook-Adams, 81, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Ozawkie, Kansas. She was born on February 21, 1938 in Meriden, Kansas, the daughter of Perry and Ellen (Sneegas) Cook.

Isabel was raised on the Perry Cook Farm and attended Meriden High School where she participated in basketball, cheerleading and home economics until graduating in 1955. After graduation she worked for a short time as a clerk at Staffer Publications in South Topeka. Later she was employed by Southwestern Bell working in the accounting department sorting toll tickets, the key punch unit, and the engineering department before retiring in 1998 after 34 years of service. After retirement she began carrying mail as a substitute rural mail carrier in Meriden for several years.

In 1955, Isabel joined Meriden’s Eastern Star Chapter #399, where she held a number of local and state offices; Officer (2003 - 2004), WGM of Kansas (2007-2008) and General Grand Chapter Committee Member (2010-2012). On March 12, 1959, she joined Ozawkie Rebekah Lodge #657, she was a 60-year loyal member. She was also very active in the county 4-H, helping as a club community leader, superintendent in the concession stand at the Jefferson County fair and participating in exchange trips, hosting two exchange students from Sweden and Iceland. Isabel and her husband both belonged to Mt. Pleasant Grange in Jefferson County.

During her free time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning, baking and watching her grandkids at sporting events.

Isabel married Eldon K. Adams on October 31, 1956 in Topeka, KS. He survives. Other survivors include their children: Debra Adams, Christopher Adams (Kirsti Petesch), Amy (William “Bill”) Mitchell, Brian (Stacie) Adams, and Vicki (Jason) Dressler; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions. Visitation will begin at 1 pm Monday followed by funeral services at 2 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Meriden Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Friends of 4-H or Ronald McDonald House or Alzheimer’s Association all in care of the funeral home, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
