Virginia Hollister Sumner Diehl, 80, of Osage City, decided to wave goodbye on Friday, May 24, 2019 to her Branson, MO friends, camping friends, and all of her family as she has gone to a much happier place to be with her Lord and Savior, family members, and many friends.

She was born January 11, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Lynn and Pauline (Shiffer) Hollister.
Virginia was employed with A&W Root Beer and Seymour’s in Topeka. Later, she worked at Eagle Bay in Lincoln, MO.

Virginia was a member American Rabbit Breeders Association, Captiol City Rabbit Club, American Tan Rabbit Club, V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary in Perry, Coast to Coast Club, Family Motor Home Association, Kansas Twister R.V. Club and Cardinal Good Samaritan Club.

She is survived by her husband Jess Harold Diehl. Over their years together they have enjoyed many road trips in their RV, their timeshare, and cruises. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Borders and her children Rodney Sumner of Melvern, KS, Ronald Sumner (Amy) of Osage City, KS, Ricky Sumner (Lora) of Garnett, KS, Rita Bidwell (David) of Falls Church, VA, Terri Sumner by marriage of Osage City, KS and Glenda Sumner by marriage of Tecumseh, KS. She is also survived by her step-children Michael Diehl of TX, Vicky May of TX, Fred Diehl of LA, Donald McCalister of TX, and Maria Baker of AR. She also has 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sumner; son, Randy Sumner; step-son, James McCalister and her parents.

Graveside services will be 10:30am, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions.
