Shirley Dekat, 79, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

She was born February 27, 1940, in Lebanon, Kansas, the daughter of Francis and Clara (Schoen) Billings. She received her high school diploma from Frankfort High School in 1958.

Shirley was employed by Dollar General, prior to retirement.

Mrs. Dekat was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, of Topeka.

Shirley married Bernard A. Dekat on November 15, 1958 in Wamego, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2006. Survivors include a son, Tim Dekat and wife, Gail; Brother, Roy Billings and wife, Ardella. Sister, Darlene Smith; granddaughter Ashten N. Coker and husband, Joseph; grandson Brandon A. Dekat; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Theresa Ann Dekat; and son, Robert Dekat.

Shirley enjoyed cooking and cake decorating for people’s weddings, parties and birthdays. She formerly owned John’s Garage with Bernard, and enjoyed working as a manager at Dollar General. Shirley enjoyed large Thanksgiving meals with family, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Most of all she adored and loved her Pomeranian, Wolfie.

A Rosary will be prayed thirty minutes prior to the service at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave. Topeka, KS 66608. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 4:00pm at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Wamego, Kansas
