She was born March 22, 1928, in Dixon, Missouri, the daughter of Dorsey and Martha (Neely) Ray.
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.
Stella married Willard Glen Guffey on April 11, 1948, he survives. Other survivors include three sons, John (Susan) Guffey, Holton; Paul (Lori) Guffey, Topeka; Melvin (Penny) Guffey, Topeka; eight grandchildren, Tim Guffey, Grant Pass, OR; Matt Guffey, Lenexa; Kristine (Andy) Richards, Topeka; Thomas (Lindsey) Guffey, Topeka; Wrylie Guffey, Topeka; Jhami (Rachel) Guffey, Lawrence; Ashlie Guffey, Topeka; Nicholas (Emily) Guffey, Lawrence; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Ray and sister, Zedna (Gene) Wangerin.
She was preceded in death by her son, Marvin D. Guffey, and three brothers, Paul, Sterling and Charles Ray.
Stella enjoyed baking pies, sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables. Stella canned her own vegetables from her garden. She particularly loved managing The Little Country Boy Restaurant.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, March 18, 2019 at Parker-Price Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 17 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
