She was born October 12, 1928, in Garrison, Kansas, the daughter of Andrew and Alice (Lewis) Lord. She graduated from Frankfort High School and Clarks School of Business.
Helen was a bookkeeper at Jayhawk Welding and Oxygen Services retiring after 30 years.
On November 27, 1948, she married Thomas “Shorty” M. Simpson in Dover, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1991. She was also preceded in death by two sons, John Noel Simpson and Joel Richard Simpson, daughter, Alice Louise Johnson and four siblings, Leo Lord, Kenneth Lord, Arnold Lord and Creta McMillan.
She is survived by three children, Daniel Simpson, Rossville; Margaret “Peggy” Woehr and her husband, Gerald, Overbrook and Eileen Langley and her husband, Larry, Topeka; one sister, Donna Hale, Montrose, CO; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
After Helen retired, she began a very successful career selling Tupperware. She also began crafting, enjoying handwork of any kind, especially sewing.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Parker-Price Funeral Home, followed by a reception at the Parker-Price Reception Center. Interment will be held at Rossville Cemetery.
