He was born May 12, 1929, in Bern, Kansas, the son of Herman and Julia Jauken. He graduated Bern High School in Bern, Kansas. Hiram served in the United States Air Force.
Hiram retired from DuPont. He was a 63 year member of the American Legion Post 326.
Hiram married Marilyn Janette Tegtmeier on February 6, 1953 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2018. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Neil Jauken and Brooklynn Houk; one sister; one brother; one sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors include two children, Michael Jauken and Tammy Houk both of Topeka; granddaughter, Amber (Jason) Henrikson of Farmington, MN; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ardell Kerl of Lincoln, NE.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment with military honors will follow at Half-Day Cemetery.
