Jake Nitz, 92, Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018.
He was born September 23, 1926, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Jake, Sr. and Maude (Baines) Nitz. He graduated from Topeka High School and was immediately drafted to the Army during WWII.
Jake was employed by Western Resources retiring as a supervisor after 46 years.
Jake married Agnes Engelhardt on December 4, 1946 in Bremen, Germany. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Nitz and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alfred and Lloyd Nitz, sister, Dorothy Kramer and nephew, Lloyd Kramer.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka. Private entombment will follow. Jake will lie in state with a closed casket from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka.
