Larry G. May, 77, Hoyt, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018.
He was born October 15, 1940, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, to Orlando and Nora (Westphal) May. He attended Topeka Lutheran, Holiday Jr. High and graduated class of 1958 at Topeka High School.
During high school he worked at Hargis Conoco, after graduating, he worked at Casson Construction, General Dynamics, Whelan Lumber Company before becoming a Topeka Firefighter, retiring after 25 years.
Larry started L. May Construction Co. in 1967 and operated it until he retired in 2011.
On October 11, 1986, he married Betty Marie Shaw Piper at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Kathy (Ivan) Frye; eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty Ann Meinhardt and daughter, Pamela Sue Gorley.
As per Larry's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial reception will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Parker-Price Reception Center, 1940 NW Central Ave, Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or D.A.V. or Wounded Warrior Project in care of Parker-Price Funeral Home.
