Sylvia was born March 12, 1928, in Topeka, KS, to Theodore and Hansena Hanson. She attended schools in Topeka, Colorado, San Diego, New York and attended high school at Julia Richmon High School. She married Harold W. Howey on January 26, 1946, in Topeka, KS. Sylvia retired from Jostens Printing in 1990 after 18 years of service. She was a lover of cats and was very patriotic. Sylvia volunteered at the VA during WWII.
She is survived by three children, Michael (Anna) Howey, Kathleen Trapp, Patrick (Kimberly) Howey; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband on November 17, 1999 after 53 years of marriage. Sylvia was also preceded in death by her three siblings.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CAT Association of Topeka, 1719 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604 or Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604.
