Helen Louise Justice

Helen L. Justice, 86, Topeka, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Plaza West.

She was born June 3, 1931, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Dewey and Lucile (Bair) Matthews. She graduated from Topeka High School and received a bachelor's degree from Washburn University.

Helen taught music, typing and bookkeeping at Hoyt High School and later taught at KAW Area Vo-Tech night school in Topeka. She was also employed by the Kansas Inspection Bureau, later known as Insurance Services, for many years.

She was a past member of the former Oakland Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherri Justice of Topeka; nephews, Robert Matthews of Tecumseh and Mark Matthews of Australia; three grandchildren, Jaimie Justice , Christopher Justice, and Jancie Justice all of Topeka; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Matthews of Tecumseh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyle Justice; and a brother, Ralph Matthews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 16, 2018, at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka. Helen will lie in state after 3:00 p.m.,Thursday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 PM.
