Harold Eugene Massek, 83, of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018.

He was born February 1, 1935, in Goff, Kansas, the son of Clarence John and Goldie Pearl (Prawl) Massek. He was a graduate of Goff High School. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during the Korean War.

Harold was an Iron Worker for the Local Iron Workers Union, retiring in 1991.

He was a member Silver Lake United Methodist Church, Orient Lodge No 10, AF& AM, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #176, American Legion Post No. 400, Moose Lodge No. 555 and Silver Lake Senior Citizens Center.

Harold married Betty Sue Perry on July 21, 1957 in Norfolk, VA. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Pam Gross, Topeka; his son, Jesse (Glenda) Massek, Silver Lake; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Eloise Self, Topeka; and a brother, Dale Massek, Santa Cruz, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn McBride; three brothers, Clarence, Henry and Everett Massek; and a son-in-law, Clark Gross.

Harold enjoyed fishing, camping, carpentry, hunting, baking cookies and family time dinners.

A funeral ceremony with Masonic Services and Military Honors will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, 204 Madore St, Silver Lake, KS. Cremation will follow the ceremony.

Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel is assisting the family.
